Afternoon Tea

I was invited to review their Afternoon Tea class along with my friend Nikki. This was even more exciting as Afternoon Tea is my favourite meal of the day as I am sure you already know! the class was really hands on and everyone gets a chance to make, bake, stir, chop as necessary which all contributes to eating together at the end of the class.

Afternoon Tea Menu

Tower of afternoon tea items, top - lemon curd tartlets, middle - cucumber sandwiches and bottom - cheese and herb scones

We made all of the components for our Afternoon Tea from scratch and in small teams. We then sat as a group to eat what we had made!

  • Devonshire Cream Cake
  • Basic Sponge Cake
  • Chocolate Ganache Topping
  • Basic White Bread
  • Bridge/Finger Rolls
  • Sandwich fillings
  • Scones – Basic and Cheese & herb
  • Sweet Shortcrust Pastry
  • Lemon Curd

It is hard to believe we made all of this in the three hours but we did and sat down to eat right on time.  The Cookery School London is very professional and organised.

Easy Lemon Curd

Five mini lemon curd tartlets on a white plate

I was given the task, along with another student, of making the lemon curd to fill the tiny, mini lemon curd tarts.

The ingredients are simple and the procedure is as well. It takes a bit of time whisking the mixture but you will soon see it change colour and become a bit translucent and it will start to thicken.

After a quick test on a cold plate (if you drag your finger trough a small amount of the curd and it leaves a trail then it is ready.  Leave to cool then put into sterilised jars and keep in the refrigerator.

You will not be able to buy lemon curd this fresh and delicious!

Corporate Events

You can build your team or treat them to a great afternoon with their corporate event program as well.  They can cater for 8-50 people with tailor made menus parties, and bespoke packages.
