Recipe: Easy Native American Maple Syrup Pie

Native American Maple Syrup Pie

Beautiful maple syrup pie

There are many stories of how the Native Americans first realised that the clear liquid dripping from the maple tree could become such a beautiful, delicious and sweet syrup but whoever discovered it – Thank You!

I love maple syrup!  The real authentic syrup comes from Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada however most of what you buy in the UK will be Canadian.

Cookbook and ingredients

It takes around 50 gallons of maple sap to produce 1 gallon of syrup so it is an ingredient to be respected and revered. It is indeed a labour of love but it is so worth it!

This recipe is attributed to the Abanakis tribe who lived primarily in Maine, Northern Vermont and around the Canadian border.

There is a rumour that our family have a few drops of Abanakis blood in us so I thought this would be the perfect recipe to make tonight.

It is quick and simple without too many ingredients so I hope you try it and if you do please post a photo on instagram and tag me on instagram – @itsmeheidiroberts.
