Christmas Smoothie for the Cook!
Are you the one in charge of Christmas Day? The food, the presents, the Christmas movies? Well you need all your energy to get through the day so here is a smoothie recipe guaranteed to keep you going all morning, so that you don’t flag halfway through all the veg prep.

I have used dates and figs for sweetness and energy. You can also add some local honey. Oats are slow release energy food and work really well in smoothies. I have added some yoghurt to my oats the night before to help them blend more easily. Cranberries add a lovely Christmas touch.

- 4 dates (roughly chopped)
- 4 figs (roughly chopped)
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 3 Tbsp yoghurt
- 1 Tbsp honey maple syrup works well instead of honey
- ¼ cup porridge oats you can mix the oats with some yogurt and leave in the fridge overnight to soften
- 1 banana, sliced
- ½ carrot, sliced
- ¼ cup blueberries
- 250 ml milk or kefir
-
First put the milk (kefir) and yoghurt into the blender jug.
-
Add the rest of the ingredients.
-
Press the 'smoothie' button
-
Pour the smoothie into a lovely glass and garnish with a couple of blueberries.
-
Optionally you can add a slug of brandy with the rest of the ingredients for a real festive start to your Christmas morning!
I hope this recipe gives you a Christmas morning boost – you could always add a slug of brandy to make it a bit more festive!! Happy Christmas.
I made my smoothie in my new Froothie Evolve blender. This machine comes with two jugs (one can steam your veggies and make your soup thick or thin), can be operated manually, voice controlled or by using the Bluetooth app.

I have an affiliate partnership with Froothie. If you order by clicking on the link here and put my code 5928 in the comment box it won’t affect the price you pay but I will earn a small commission from the sale.

This sounds great for me. I don’t like to eat first thing but smoothies I can manage and this would be substantial enough to keep me going!
I like to take a smoothie with me to work – keeps me going all morning.
Hahaha, I like the idea of a cheeky slug of brandy. Happy New Year.
