Recipe: Tequila Frosting

Tequila Frosting

Pieces of Mexican chocolate cake with tequila icing on a glass cake plate

What is Tequila Frosting:

Tequila frosting/icing is a buttercream frosting/icing that uses tequila to let down the consistency to spread better rather than using milk.  The tequila adds a delicious taste to the mixture and if you have added some chilli pepper to the cake it works really well together. A sprinkle of lime zest on top of the frosting/icing is a tastebud reminder how well tequila and lime go together too!

How is tequila frosting different to ordinary frosting:

A normal buttercream frosting/icing can have a few tablespoons of milk added to get the consistency to be a bit more spreadable.  With tequila frosting/icing you substitute the milk for, yes you guessed it, TEQUILA!
