WaxWrap – Re-useable Food Wrap

About three years ago I decided to stop buying and using any form of plastic wrap to cover my food before putting it in the fridge.  I started to invest in the bees wrap coated squares. These squares are great for smaller bowls or individual things like onions, half a lemon or apple.

Although I loved the idea of the wax coated wraps I often found that the sizes available were too small for a lot of my bowls and containers.

I was therefore really happy to hear that WaxWrap now does their bees wax coated organic fabric covers by the roll!

WaxWrap now have the bees wax covered organic cotton by the roll!  They have 1.2m of 20cm x 120cm, 1.5m of 30cm x 150cm and 2m of 40cm x 200cm which can be cut to any size you need.  Now even my large mixing bowl can have a bees wrap cover.

WaxWrap also have a pack of three bags which are handy for loose items such as fruit, vegetables or even sandwiches. They come in one of each of Small – 21 x 31cm, Medium – 25 x 31cm and Large – 32 x 31cm.

How much do they cost:

The suggested RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is as follows:

Small: 1.2m of 20cm x 120cm – RRP £12.00

Medium: 1.5m of 30cm x 150cm – RRP £16.00

Large: 2m of 40cm x 200cm – RRP £20.00

Pack of three bags – RRP £22.50

Unique Features:

The unique features of WaxWrap vs cling film are that they can be washed and re-used. Wash in cold water and if necessary use an eco-friendly dish detergent, rinse and air dry ready to be used again and again.  The wraps usually last about a year. They are suitable for freezing however not suitable for oven or microwave use.  It is not recommended to wash them in the dishwasher either.

When you feel the wraps are getting used up you can either dip them in melted beeswax to revive, use them as a firelighter or compost.  They are sustainable and zero waste.
