Germany: Scandic Hamburg Emporio Hotel
Staying at the Scandic Hamburg Emporio Hotel Hamburg

As I lay my head on the comfortable pillows and wrapped myself in the duvet I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud.
Location:
This was my second time staying at the Scandic Hamburg Emporio in the quiet district near the Gansemark underground station. The hotel is easily reached by public transport from Hamburg Airport taking about 35-40 minutes. Most city destinations can be easily reached from Gansemark station with one or two changes or you could walk to popular parts of the city in under 20 minutes.
Hamburg is a vibrant and very busy city with loads to do, see and experience making it essential that you have somewhere to chill out, rest and recoup ready for the next day’s experiences.
The Scandic Hamburg Emporio offers you comfortable beds, uncluttered rooms with loads of space and light with helpful and friendly staff there for any requirements or questions you might have.
Breakfast:-

Breakfast is served in the downstairs with a fantastic buffet style feast to suit every taste. I couldn’t think of anything I would have liked for breakfast that wasn’t there. Whether it is a traditional hot egg, sausage and hash brown selection, cold meats with a selection of local cheeses, cereals, juice or fresh pastries it is all there for the guest. Coffee stations and fresh juice complete the breakfast offerings. Interesting to note that 40% of the breakfast range is organic and the coffee served is fair trade coffee.
If the children finish their breakfast before the parents there is a little play area.
Restaurant:-
There is a lovely bar and restaurant (H2O restaurant) with a limited menu that ticks off everything you might want for a night in. I had the loaded beef burger with bacon and cheese and a side of sweet potato fries. Just what I needed after a busy conference day.

Sustainability:-
Sustainability is a big feature of the Scandic Hamburg Emporio with ‘water’ being a central theme to symbolising their commitment to sustainability. The hotel passionately displays murals and paintings to drive the theme of water sublimely.

The rooms are ‘eco rooms’, the water filtered saving 160 tons of C02 annually and even the restaurant does its part by not using tablecloths to keep the laundry use to a minimum.

Comfort:-
But apart from all the efforts to put sustainability first for me the most important thing was that totally comfortable and refreshing sleep! I was ready to attack the busy schedule for the day ahead!
If you are looking for comfort, great breakfast, impressive rooms with Hamburg views and friendly and helpful staff then you can’t go wrong staying at the Scandic Hamburg Emporio.
I visited the Scandic Hamburg Emporio in April 2002 with my friend Nayna who is also a food and travel blogger.
