Finding Me – Session with a Life Coach
Finding Me: Trying Life Coaching
Last year passed with people feeling like they were in a dream. We all felt like we were walking through a fog since the news of the Covid pandemic in March. I found I was lacking motivation and really just going through the motions of day to day life as all of my press trips, holiday and blogging events were cancelled one by one.
I found Lauren Isles Coaching and she offered to give me three sessions in exchange for my honest evaluation of her service. I have wanted to try something like this in the past so I eagerly took up her offer.
Initially I had a pre task to do before each session.
Session 1:-

My first task was drawing my reality without using any words. As an avid chatterbox this was quite difficult for me however I did it and sent it to Lauren in advance.
Although I was very nervous as I hadn’t done anything like this before Lauren soon put me at ease and explained that basically it was all about me for the next hour! Lauren asked a few questions including asking me to tell her all about myself and my background. It is quite an unusual feeling to have someone actually listening to you. We fall into the habit of interjecting the phrase “You know what I mean?” or “Am I making sense?’ simple because people tend to hear but rarely listen. Lauren listened and after our session gave me a summing up of our hour, an hour that had passed almost without noticing.
Lauren said that she felt I had “lost my spark, my sparkle”! All we had to do now was find a way to get it back! For the rest of the day I felt my mood had lifted. I was consciously aware of feeing like a light had been switched on. She was perfectly correct. I had lost my sparkle! And now Lauren was going to help me find it!
Session 2:-

My home work for the next week was again some drawing (remember no words) and to depict how I saw my perfect future. This was hard! I couldn’t draw what I couldn’t imagine.
Session two was all about imagining my perfect future. I felt perfectly at ease, perfectly safe as if Lauren was virtually holding my hand and taking me through this hour.
Session 3:-

The homework task for this session was to write inside the gingerbread man qualities I felt I bring to the other person or brand I am working with. The outside of the gingerbread man was qualities I felt people and brands were looking for.
This session involved really dealing down to what I wanted and how I wanted to get there. I had to get specific, write down 10 people I wanted to get into my diary for my IGTV channel, then to work out a time scale that I( would do this in. Really helpful breaking down this huge task Ito bite size pieces. “Q. How do you eat an elephant? A. One bite at a time!”. This is basically what we talked about, breaking down what I had to do to get to where I wanted to be. It is really empowering when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Conclusion:-
Lauren is a really lovely, quiet spoken and personable person. She put me at ease, listened to me and encouraged me to think for myself and work out a strategy for how to get my ‘spark’ back. I have so enjoyed our sessions that I have agreed to continue meeting with Lauren once a month. This monthly session will keep me accountable to myself and help with not getting side-tracked, which is very easy for me to do!
I thoroughly recommend contacting Lauren for an initial chat and to see if she can help with anything holding you back.
