London: Lunchtime Review of Ritorno Italian Restaurant

Lunchtime Review – Ritorno Italian Restaurant – Covent Garden, London

If you are visiting London or work in the Covent Garden area of Central London and you fancy a quick lunch then I can recommend the perfect place!  Ritorno Italian Restaurant on Great Queen Street (30 Great Queen Street, London WC2 5BB), just right around the corner from Drury Lane.

This modern and contemporary restaurant had a really lovely ambiance with a well stocked bar in the middle of the main dining room.

They have semi-private dining rooms available; the Flamingo room  seats up to 16 guests and the Blue room will accommodate up to 20 guests.

The menu lists favourites such as Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, Risotto ai Gamberi, Gnocchi alla Sorrentina along with main courses including Trance de Merluzzo ( pan-fried line caught North Atlantic Cod) and Tagliata de Tonno ( charcoal grilled Bluefin Tuna).

I was visiting with my friend and fellow food blogger Nayna. We didn’t have a starter instead had a pasta and pudding each as it was a lunchtime visit.

I had the Ravioli di Burrata (Housemade ravioli stuffed with creamy Burata with a fresh cherry tomato and basil sauce – £13.95).  Visually it was a virtual rainbow and it tasted lovely, fresh and creamy.

Nayna chose the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina (homemade baked ‘Sorrento style’ potato gnocchi in tomato sauce with Mozzarella Di Buffalo Campagna – £12.25).

Dessert time and the selection was again simple and traditional.  We both had the Chocolate Cake – warm chocolate cake with Sicilian Ricotta cheese and an orange and chocolate crispy tulle – £6.75.

Happily full of lunch we set off to enjoy the rest of our afternoon poking around Covent Garden!

I was an invited guest to dine at Ritorno.  I was not required to write a positive review. As usual all opinions and photographs are my own. No photographs may be reproduced in any form without my written permission.
